West Windsor has had a NonPartisan government since 1993. Since then, we have avoided the divisive party politics and outside political and money influences that occur on the national level and in many partisan towns. Our current NonPartisan government works! We have had diverse candidates for Mayor and Township Council running on mixed party slates and independently during the past thirty years. Our leaders have focused on local issues and responsiveness to all our residents.
A small group of political insiders with ties to party politics outside West Windsor have put a question on the West Windsor November election ballot that would change our town back to a partisan government. This would make it easier for them to select partisan candidates and give them the advantage in all future elections. West Windsor’s many Independent voters would be shut out of the process. Even regular Democrats who are not on the Democratic Committee will be shut out of the process of selecting the preferred candidate. This would be good for the political insiders and bad for West Windsor.
KEEP WEST WINDSOR NONPARTISAN is a diverse group of West Windsor residents that have come together to prevent this threat to our beautiful town. We are independents, Democrats, Republicans and others who wish to preserve West Windsor’s thirty-year tradition of working together for the good of our community. The group is led by Andy Lupo as Chair and Meena Tomar as Treasurer, both with a long history of service to the community. You can find names of other supporters on the supporter page. If you would like to join the list, please email KeepWWNonPartisan@gmail.com.
The originators of this proposed change stand to gain from approval of this question by controlling candidate selection and modifying the election process in their favor. They are sure to spend additional money to mislead people. They have already paid outsiders from Union County to gather signatures. We can use all the financial support we can get as our campaign is mainly driven by local donations. If you would like to donate, please use the donate button on the website.
Please Vote No on the ballot question and join us to STOP West Windsor from going backwards to divisive party politics.
